Introduction

Social connections are an important part of the Fohr platform. While we cant rely only on API it can be helpful to understand what comes from the different connection types.

Connections give us accurate real time metrics related to demographics, post data, and reporting. Reminder you can always refer to the Fohr Dictionary for insights on our formulas and metrics. It can also help creators receive more opportunities!

Requirements before connecting

Updating Instagram

Connecting Instagram and Facebook

Before you connect, make sure you have Instagram set up correctly to avoid error.

  • You must have a Business or Creator Instagram account. To learn more check out the page below.
  • A public-facing Facebook Page must be linked to your Instagram account. To learn more check out the page below.

If you connected to the wrong account have no fear, you can update this!

  • The Fohr profile will automatically connect to whichever Instagram account is open on your device/computer at the time of connecting- you can disconnect your Instagram in the Settings tab, then sign completely out of Instagram, then reconnect to whichever account you wish. It takes up to 24 hours to backtrack the incorrect content out and new account content in.
  • The Fohr profile will automatically connect to whichever Facebook account is open on your device/computer at the time of connecting- you can disconnect your Facebook in the Settings tab, then sign completely out of Facebook, then reconnect to whichever account you wish.

API Details

Instagram API with Facebook Login

  1. Instagram’s official business-level connection. Creators log in using their Facebook account, and their Instagram account must be a Creator or Business account linked to a Facebook Business Page.
  1. What we get
    1. All content types – feed posts, reels, and stories.
    1. Stories insights – total views, unique viewers, taps forward/back, replies.
    1. Content performance – likes, comments, reach, views, saves, shares.

Instagram API with Instagram Login

  1. A quicker connection method that uses the creator’s Instagram login flow. Ideal for those without a Facebook Business Page; creators will be prompted to switch to a Creator or Business account if they haven’t already.
  1. What we get
    1. Feed and Reels posts – photos, videos, and reels with captions, hashtags, and mentions.
    1. Content performance – views, reach, likes, comments, shares, saves.
  1. What we don’t get
    1. No Stories posts – this method does not provide story posts or story insights.

Instagram Discovery API

  1. Our way of finding creators on Instagram without requiring them to connect their account. Creators must have a Business or Creator Instagram account to be discoverable.
  1. What we get
    1. Public profile info – bio, profile picture, follower count.
    1. Feed and Reels posts – photos, videos, and reels with captions, hashtags, and mentions.
    1. Engagement data – likes and comment counts.
  1. What we don’t get
    1. No Stories – this method does not provide story posts or story insights.
    1. No views data – except for public Reels view counts. We estimate views for posts without views data.
